Path Forwarding Issue

Hi, I recently rebranded and swapped my site design from one Squarespace site to another.  I setup the 301 redirect, however when I go to initiate path forwarding, it will let me select the option, but when I go to "save" it is not selected.  

This seems to be an issue many others are having.  Looking for any insight here. 

If your domain is with Squarespace can you not move it from the first site to the other?

@derricksrandomviews   I am not going to lie, I am quite illiterate when it comes to this type of technical stuff so I really just don't know.  I built my site through Showit, of course had a Google domain, rebranded and bought a new domain through Squarespace.   I am following all the directions for the Change of Address tool for Google Search Console and got hung up on this part of trying to initiate 301 redirects from my old domain to my new domain
