Manually imported contacts query

Hi, I manually imported some contacts before my site went live, so now I have a combination of subscribers (who've accepted marketing) and manually imported ones who are showing up as 'does not' accept marketing, even though I know they want to receive my newsletter. I am stuck with what to do next, to fix this. Any help welcome, thank you. Clemency.
