Need help making a "dropdown button"

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

before I begin, please note that I am completely new to Squarespace and also only have very basic experience with coding, so please be gentle with me!

I would like there to be no header on my homepage except a pinned button that, when clicked, expands into a kind of dropdown menu consisting of other buttons (see image). So far I've managed to include really cool features in my website by searching for custom code but it seems I've hit a wall here. Before I decided on using Squarespace I tried Cargo and managed to do this by creating an overlay, but that doesn't seem to be an option?

Would be so grateful for any help!

The url is marakienast.com, password: help

I've only just started building it though, so nothing is linked yet. On this project page you can see my temporary navigation: https://www.marakienast.com/work/frauen-koennen-alles

I need to find a different solution anyways, I just also have the problem that I don't like the available header templates and I need to find a way to make a custom header 😞

So on this /frauen-...page, you want to create a button on header >> when click it >> Show other buttons in dropdown?

Yes, I would like to have a button like that in my header on all pages and on the homepage I'd just like the button without a header.

I have also not found a way yet to customize the header at all (except to switch through the templates of course) . An alternative would be to put the button in its own section on top I guess if there is no other way.

So I have two problems: Can't make a drop down button and can't change header elements to my liking.

Update: managed to at least create an acceptable header design by using these plugins by ghost and slightly changing the first one to refer to the inactive navigation link:

https://www.ghostplugins.com/free-plugins/active-navigation-link-border-pill-style

Might try to change the standard navigation dropdown's appearance by starting out with this plugin:
