40% less visitors in one week

I am aware that Google is changing their search engine with Gemini and more AI and this will obviously damage the number of visitors. I know they started, then they stopped. My site used to have around 1000-1200 daily page views with 50% from the US. This week according the Squarespace Analytics the site has lost around 50% of readers (still 50% from US). I am on holiday so I cannot upload any new posts to be honest, but I am wondering if this is happening to others?

That's a lot to be honest! Google Analytics is showing similar numbers (not a fan of Google Analytics).

Not sure if your traffic has recovered but I believe google rolled out a core update in August 2024 - this might be playing a role in your dip.
