Having a terrible time working with Custom Tables Plugin

I purchased the Tables Extension plug-in several years ago and have been using it - every couple years when elections come around and I need tables... so I don't have a sense of continuity in using it. This year I am just NOT getting it to work. I have tried several things; I have tried other HTML-type table generator functions as well in case someone created a better mousetrap, etc.  At this point, I am just wasting HOURS trying to create these tables/pages.

I have tried uploading a csv file and uploading it (some of the data for the table includes long stretches of text and getting it to wrap within a cell is not working) - and if I put lines in new rows, then I cannot get rid of the lines between the cells (I am removing them in the csv file or I am making them white in the csv file, but neither of those options appears to work) - and having each line of text in a separate row is just wrong.  I am trying to present the ballot language from https://www.ohiosos.gov/globalassets/elections/2023/spec/issuereport.pdf and separate lines just makes it so hard for the reader to understand. 

I was able to create a candidates page by actually adding in the information a line at a time in the pull up table for this extension but still ran into trouble because lines are showing between each cell.  https://www.lakecountyoh.org/november-5-2024-general-election-candidates

I am clearly doing something wrong - and all the reviews talk about how easy it is to use and how satisfied folks are. What am I missing here?
