Multilingual manual integration using blog or Language Switch not working

Hey there,

I am using 7.1 and my default language is english.

I want to add French and I struggling to implement this Blog info:

I have created all of the the french pages succesfully but I can't add the icon to transition from english to french.

I don't know if I should use the integrated Language swith (right) or the blogs (left) but either way, both don't work.

Can someone please lend a hand for this not-for-profit founder who is trying to avoid paying for the pricier App ?

Is that possible please?

Also, for the flag, Canada is particular as it has 2 official language : So I would like to change the french version flag to the Quebec one that I uploaded in the Assets:
