C2G
I keep getting this error when trying to forward URLs to non-squarespace websites. The problem is there are no DNS errors showing in red - help articles say the problem records should be showing in red on the DNS pages. Please help! Details below: This rule is conflicting with an existing DNS record. Resolve by deleting the conflicting record in the DNS settings page. I have several URL's which I will need to forward to a new conglomerate website I am building. (Several had forwarding issues after the google migration, but squarespace has since solved those.) The new problems with at least two URLs are explained below. I have contacted support and they gave me links to help articles, but what I am seeing in the help doesn't solve the problem and I'm stuck. I'm on a time crunch so I'm hoping someone here can help. The first URL was recently transferred in from Hostinger - to my knowledge all was well with the transfer - while on hostinger it was forwarded elsewhere. First URL DNS records may have come from support - I don't recognize them as the ones I tried the other day to resolve this issue: Squarespace Defaults Host Type Priority Data @ A 0 198.185.159.144 @ A 0 198.49.23.145 @ A 0 198.49.23.144 @ A 0 198.185.159.145 www CNAME 0 ext-sq.squarespace.com The second URL had a hosted website (on Wix) and I changed the DNS records as the article suggested but I get the same error. Both would be forwarding to a (non-squarespace) website. Further, these same DNS records are being used for other URL's that I am forwarding. So none of it makes sense as to why it isn't working. Second URL DNS records per help article: Custom records Add record Host Type Priority Data @ A N/A 198.158.159.144 www CNAME N/A ext-sq.sqarespace.com As with all my other URL's I am trying to forward the www and the @. If I should be doing something different, please let me know. I have also tried forwarding one without the other (just www or just @) but that doesn't work either. I'm sure this is a user error but I don't know where to go from here. Your help is appreciated, thank you! Link to comment
