dns-records alias domain for teams..... it seems so simple... yet....

Stumped. I've wasted 10 hours so far messing with this. I'm setting up my org's Teams. I need to create an alias domain so that Teams can send my gmail based business email calendar requests and other stuff. Neat. Only the instructions do not work.

I've added the verification code to custom records in my dns settings as instructed. No dice.

I deleted that and added a preset and pasted my verification code into the Google Workspace Verification box that Squarespace created. No dice.

Deleted that and tried the alternative CNAME edit. Squrespace will not allow it to be saved.

I'm at a 100% loss here. Setting up my org's Teams has been the most frustrating experience I've EVER had with software.

I've watched youtube videos, scoured the help forums here, and now I'm just finally going to post this and take a nap.
