Custom gallery blocks from image block

I prefer using the blank block in squarespace to be able to add images and format them to my liking. I am hoping to use the images I have placed as the primary image for a gallery that would then expand in a lightbox. I am hoping to utilize this as I have pieces of artwork that are united by medium for example. I would like to be able to showcase detail shots and additional views of the same piece under the carousel of the primary image I have inserted into the page.
