MailChimp code error in footer—Bedford

Recommended Posts

I am changing my template from Hudson to Bedford, but my code injection for the footer (a subscribe form) is causing an error when clicking the three little lines on the top right corner (when the navigation menu is compressed).  I retrieved the Embedded Code Form directly from MailChimp.  It was working on Hudson, but not on Bedford.   Can anyone help me?  (I can't supply a URL to show the error because it is not live yet.  But I attached photos and the code I'm trying to use below).  I am a dinosaur, so I would appreciate any help. 🦕 THANK YOU!

Here are two photos of compressed views of the Home page.  The second image shows the error that occurs.

1. Before clicking on the hamburger menu lines Screenshot 2024-07-12 at 7.33.53 PM.png

2. After clicking on the hamburger menu lines.  It shows part of the footer (Subscribe to...) rather then the menu choices.

Here is the code (from Mail Chimp) that I am trying to use for the footer using Code Injection:

           We recommend moving this block and the preceding CSS link to the HEAD of your HTML file. */
</style>

It is difficult to see posted code and make a diagnosis. We need to see the code running in an actual site. Please post the URL for a page on your Bedford based site where we can see your issue. For us to see the URL you need to include the link in the content of your post. The URL field the forum software provides is not shown to us.

A link to the backend of the your site won’t work for us, i.e. a URL that contains /config/.

Please set up a site-wide password, if your site is not public and you've not already done so.

Post the password here.

Adding a site-wide password does not allow anyone to alter your site. It only allows those with the password to see your site.

Please read the site-wide password and how to share a link documentation to understand how they work.

You may find How to post a forum question post useful.

We can then take a look at your issue.

Thanks so much for your reply, creedon.  My site is not live yet (got a bit of work to do before I can do that), so I have no link to share.

For now, I found that Squarespace has a way to connect to MailChimp directly if I use the Newsletter block.  I have to put it on each page individually but that might be ok.

I will mark your post as a solution.   I really appreciate that you took the time to respond.
