LearnMusic
Hello! I am creating a website for a local business that serves several surrounding cities. What is the seo best practice for file names and alt-text in this case? Is it alright to enter several city names (ex. music-lessons-houston-baytown-huntsville) or will Google search consider this keyword spamming? Thank you!! Is it alright to enter several city names (ex. music-lessons-houston-baytown-huntsville) Alt text It is important for accessibility and user experience and although it can help with SEO, this is not the primary purpose! The alt text will be read out to visually-impaired users and should describe what a sighted person would see if they looked at the image. In the example above, it should be something like "someone learning to play guitar". Did this help? It's good practice to give each image a filename that is meaningful as it makes organisation easier, for example "playing-guitar.jpg" instead of "IMG987654.jpg". I don't claim to be an SEO expert but Google's image guidelines documentation (linked) states: "Google extracts information about the subject matter of the image from the content of the page, including captions and image titles...Likewise, the filename can give Google very light clues about the subject matter of the image...The most important attribute when it comes to providing more metadata for an image is the alt text" Did this help?
