Belindarobyn Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Can any fellow SS users please tell me how they add a Canonical tag to their blog posts to indicate to Google you are the original author? SS tells me there is an automatic Canonical tag? is this enough to be effective? Thank you for any insights you have. Belinda
Solution Sifat_SEOSpace Posted July 11 Solution Posted July 11 Hi @Belindarobyn, I'm happy to help you! Below, I've added a few insights that might be helpful: Yes! Squarespace's automatic canonical tags are usually effective for blogs. Squarespace automatically adds canonical tags to all pages, including blog posts, to avoid duplicate content issues. [The automatically generated canonical tags point to the primary URL of each page, taking into account factors like www vs non-www, http vs https, and trailing slashes.] The automatically generated canonical tags are generally sufficient, and there is no need to manually add them. However, if you have multiple versions of a blog post you can manually add a canonical tag in the page code section pointing to the original version to clearly indicate the source to Google. This can help avoid any potential duplicate content issues. If you've any further questions, feel free to ask. Best regards, Sadul Sifat. Collaborada Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Hi @Belindarobyn. You can see Squarespace's canonical tag by looking at the source code of any page. Are you asking because you want to republish content elsewhere? If so, some platforms such as Medium add a canonical tag pointing to your post.
