Need to upload a text file in the root folder...

Recommended Posts

Hey Gang,

I run a website for a hospital.  The hospital is required to host a very, very small text file in the root folder.  This file is used with pricing transparency.  (I really don't understand its purpose. It's basically invisible except to the company that runs the pricing website.

So, in Squarespace, how can I do this?  I know SS is a server less web host...but there has to be a way.  (At least I'm hoping)

Thanks in advance!

Hi Rob, this is exactly what I shared in my blog post: workaround to upload the file into root directory

Basically you need to upload your file.txt file using the Link manager

Then the file is available at /s/file.txt, based on the support of your hospital, we need to trace to file's source

Finally use the redirection for /file.txt -> /cdn/file.txt 301 to effective mimics the behavior of uploading files to root directory

Note that not all service allow redirection, so you need to double check with the developer about this matter, this method proved working with Google ads.txt, Bing verification and Indexnow API key
