Boost Your Lightbox Zoom Quality Using Lightbox Studio

Recommended Posts

Can you spot the differences?

Those are screenshots from the Lightbox Studio plugin, where these images are zoomed in at the same zoom level. The screenshot above shows the difference in quality at the same zoom level between the processed image asset (served at 5MP) and the original file (55MP - 12MB size). The original file is served as an alternate image on Squarespace lightbox, so it shows better quality due to its much larger file size and resolution.

While the current Lightbox Studio zoom feature tries to offer the image at its maximum width of 2500w, there is still room for improvement by using alternate images.

Origin File Upload vs. Hires Zoom Hires zoom images are also uploaded as image assets, but they require preprocessing to split and merge the slices vertically. They are usually smaller than origin files but can still provide reasonable zoom quality.

This feature is made possible with Image Lightboxify URLs. Check it out in detail on this post
