How to stop images from being cropped when viewed on mobile page

Across my site images are cropped in the mobile version. I know this has been asked before, but I'm hoping someone can help me out as someone with zero coding experience — I would love some step by step instructions on how to fix this issue.  I've tried changing the image ratios from 4:3 to 3:4 but it ends up making either mobile or website images look bad. Lots of answers say to go into design -> custom CSS but my version of SquareSpace does not have a design panel. 

I have a mix of vertical and horizontal sculptures that I would love to be able to show in the proper orientation, without them being chopped off too. 

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

It's been moved in the dashboard, try looking under Website -> Pages -> Website Tools -> Custom CSS.

Are you setting the image to FIT or FILL?

In the image settings you can change the image from fill to fit.
