How to assign different colour theme to search results page?

We have added a search bar in a new section at the top of our ‘shop’ page (I don’t think our template supports one in the header, annoyingly, as would prefer this), and have assigned the theme ‘Lightest 1’ to the section. However the search results page which comes up when you type in the search bar appears to have the ‘Dark2’ theme and I cannot figure out how to change this to ‘Lightest1’. Sometimes it displays ‘themes used on this page’ in the bar to the right, and shows Dark2, and even if it lets me change the dropdown list to Lightest1, it seems to revert to Dark2. Any ideas??
