Newbie having trouble figuring out best way to lay out site

Hi,

I am trying to create a photographic web site for displaying and taking orders for framed images.

Though I can get pages published ok and managed to get a store item tested with Paypal etc, I am having trouble with the elements I should use and getting confused whether to use Store, image blocks or projects.

What I want to have is a main "Gallery" page with an image and caption representing each category (Like Seascapes, Waterfalls, Country Living etc).

Then when any of the category images is clicked, a page opens with all the images and captions in that category (say all seascape images).

Then if they click on a particular image I want it to open the product page where they select options and can add to cart to purchase.

Not sure if I should have a "store" page or not.

Or would I be better to have say a store page of products for each category. I'm a bit confused about the best method to use.

Thanks

Here's a few ideas to get you started. First, if you haven't already done so, create a Store page and add a few of your 'products' to it, ideally from various categories. This will allow you to test your work as you go along . Add a category to each product, like Waterfalls, to allow you to filter by category later.

If you want an initial page with thumbnails for categories, you can do this with many standard layout pages. Add a section and choose one that you like.

Link each thumbnail to one of the categories in the store page. You can do this by adding the url of the store page. For example, /store?category=waterfalls to jump to the Waterfalls category of the Store page. Users will see a list of the 'products' and will be able to click into one of them to view the product details.

Let us know how you get on.
