Closing Lightbox Image Closes Page from External Link..!?

Hello!  I want to be able to link to specific images in my galleries from external websites, and then when the user closes the lightbox image my website remains in the browser.  Right now, when I open an image from a link and close the lightbox with 'X',  instead of returning to the gallery page, the browser window closes or returns to the browser start page.  It's happening with Chrome and Safari on desktop, though interestingly the desired behavior happens with mobile Safari!

Do I need the modify the url somehow?  I really have no idea what to do ....  Maybe this is a browser/os specific thing and there's nothing to be done.

Could you share a screen capture to demostrate the issue? So far when visiting your site with the URL I can see lightbox pop out with the selected image, as soon as closes the lightbox it show the main gallery page content, which is expected

It works as you describe with iOS and Safari, but on macOS with Safari or Chrome, and on Win 11 with Edge or Chrome, when the lightbox is closed the window either closes or returns to the browser's "Start" screen.

This is probably an os thing, and maybe there's nothing to be done!  I will try to do a screen capture ...

Here's my issue!  Click the link, close the lightbox image and the while tab closes...  I'd like just the lightbox to close and to remain on the gallery page ...

Any ideas appreciated!
