Tracking URLs specifically created - why can't I do this

Hello, 

I've created an http linked signature banner image and want to track interactions.  To track the link, I created a new URL (maison-daquitaine) as a facebook URL as there wasn't an option for email signature.  I'm sure I'm doing it wrong but can't find any other way to create URLs that I can track but now I can't see the traffic source for maison-daquitaine in my analytics so assume it's not working.  I'm keen to track lots of campaigns this way so need to understand this asap.
