Squarespace isn't allowing forwarding from a subdirectory URL (mywebsite.com/folder) with Google domains

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I'm a step away from contacting a lawyer due to unethical practices after an acquisition.

Trying to forward a subdirectory of my domain to an external site.

Example:
Forward From - mywebsite.com/subdirectory
Forward To - anotherwebsite.com

However, based on the UI settings in Squarespace, I can only forward a SUBDOMAIN to an external website. I'm not able to add my subdirectory folder AFTER my root domain and only able to add it BEFORE my root domain. Spoke with support and this was confirmed that the root domain in the UI is not possible to be removed from where its located. They tried to go another route but was unsuccessful and the issue had to be escalated.

Only option that's available:
Forward from - subdirectory.mywebsite.com
Forward To - anotherwebsite.com

This subdomain option does forward correctly, but it is NOT what I desire. Please tell me someone else that purchased a google domain was able to overcome this issue, if not, please post on this thread.

I've read a number of articles on this, but haven't gone the DNS record route just yet as that would mean this change is way more complicated than it was with Google Domains. Let me know of any success.
