Connecting GoDaddy domain to squarespace error

Recommended Posts

I'm tearing my hair out here.

I'm going to Settings > Domains & Emails > Domains > Use a Domain I own

When I enter the GoDaddy domain I have purchased, it says "This is a third party domain." in red text (see attached img). Can anyone tell me why this is coming up as an error and not just passing through to the next page?

The Squarespace live chat is unavailable and they have not responded to my email from days ago.

I completely understand! This error message is really unhelpful and is caused by a technical issue that Squarespace engineering teams are currently investigating.

The unhelpful message "This is a third party domain" should say that the third party domain is already connected to another Squarespace site. If you previously used the domain with another Squarespace, you'll need to log on to that older site and disconnect the domain first, assuming that you still have access.

After you've disconnected the domain, you should be able to complete the process you were following above.

Let me know how you get on.
