Blog Post Content Lost

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I just spent all day Saturday finishing a blog post, saving every 10 min or so. Then yesterday 99% of my changes I made on Saturday were not there, they were back to the original version from Friday. Strangely just the new thumbnail photo I inserted on Saturday is still there.

I have a "witness" as my colleague saw my original version from Saturday (minus 2 products which I had inserted in) on Sunday very early in the morning before we both saw the blog post reverting back to its "99%" original version from Friday.

Aside from the lost work, my concern is the reliability of the platform. We have been using it for 5 years with bugs but nothing like this. The basic function of a content management system is to save your work, which is not being done!  Plus it is randomly deciding which changes to save. Totally unacceptable!

Has anyone encountered a similar problem recently? FYI we migrated to 7.1 in April.

Thanks,

Sheila Donohue

Hi @VeroVino. Yes, this has happened fairly recently on our site for the first time (that we are aware of). Please report it to Support immediately. Also see this similar post:

Hi there, I am a VeroVino employee and also a blog writer.

Yes, we did report it right away to Squarespace support. Unfortunately, we have been told that it was our user error with improper editing caused an "overwrite" of previous content (something we are sure didn't happen because after saving changes I personally saw the changes reflected on the live blog post on our site (external to the editor).

As of now, we are still trying to figure out what happened and in communication with support.  Would you mind sharing information on your case with us, to include and perhaps help Squarespace troublshoot this issue better?

Hi @JacquelineVero I messaged you. It is not user error. Here is another detailed report from Reddit:
