wufei
I have a domain and have it connected via DNS records. The site loads, everything works. Under Website -> Social Sharing I added a thumbnail (600px). Now, when I link my domain (e.g. mydomain.com) on X, it doesn't show the SEO Site Description or the thumbnail in the twitter card. When I include the URL slug to my home page mydomain.com/homepage, the SEO Site Description appears. I changed the name of the URL slug recently so I'm assuming the thumbnail hasn't propagated yet when adding the URL slug. However, if I link a child page that's not the homepage, mydomain.com/black-shoes, the thumbnail shows on X. I'm going to assume, that the SEO Site Description and Thumbnail is tied to the URL slugs but not mydomain.com/ Do I need to add a redirect at the registrar? Or add an entry under URL Mappings? I tried this : /homepage -> / 301 I do want to mention that if I share my website via text or Facebook the thumbnail shows up. I find it odd that on X, when linking my website(just the domain), nothing shows only when adding the URL Slug. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
Solution wufei Posted May 16 Author Solution Share Posted May 16 I figured it out. In URL Mappings I added /current_homepage_slug -> mydomain.com 301 I created a blank page and set that as the hompage. I then checked X and the thumbnail and SEO description were now loading. I then switched back to the original landing page and it continued to show the thumbnail and description. Deleted the blank page. Also, squarespace support is terrible. They didn't know how to help at all. Four different support agents gave up after 30 mins and said "go ask twitter". Link to comment
