I am working with a 3rd party tool we use to setup CNAME and they said this. I am not seeing any documents in Squarespace that clarify this, so was looking if anyone new.

Also please check with your domain provider to see if you only need to add the subdomain vs the full domain in the CNAME name/hostname record. i.e _sadmnwajsjmw293 vs _sadmnwajsjmw293.yourdomain.com

Where did you purchase your domain?

If you purchased your domain from Squarespace, you only need to use the host, without the domain name.
