We've adjusted the order confirmation notification emails to include text indicating it can be treated a Tax Invoice, but many customers are not very familiar with printing their own emails into PDF and instead request us generate it for them manually.

The workaround you are currently using is the only option available currently within Squarespace.

In addition, if you are using an Squarespace Extension to send your sales directly to a third party accounting platform, you may be able to configure that application to automatically create an invoice.
