Under Construction. What's going on???

My domain was transferred to Squarespace from Google Domains. Today May 1, 2024  I cannot reach my website. I see a black photo from Squarespace  with my domain name without the www and a message:

We are under construction. Please check back for an update soon

What's going on. Very bad timing I am in the middle of a marketing campaign ....

It sounds like the domain is pointing to Squarespace, so the DNS records may not have migrated from Google correctly. I think some Google Domains users were required to update their domain's settings before the migration to prevent this, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

In any case, making sure the DNS settings are correct in Squarespace should resolve this. What domain are you working with, and what site should it point to?

since the time the domain shifting is done to SquareSpace, my URL Redirects are now working !!

it says 

"We're under construction. Please check back for an update soon."

This is a joke. The website was created on squarespace but the domain was originally from Google. Now my website suddenly doesn't work at all and there's no support from Squarespace. What a scam. If this isn't sorted soon why would anyone continue to use squarespace? 

Unless you provide your domain URL and exactly where your website is hosted, we cannot possibly help you from here. 

I am having the same problem. I have gone through all the guides and connected to customer service, but no resolution. I still get this message on my site: We are under construction. Please check back for an update soon

Can you manage the domain, by that access the DNS settings in the domain panel?  If so,  delete the first two A records with the IP addresses 198.49.23.145 and 198.49.23.144 which point to the parking page.  If that does not bring your site up disconnect the domain and re-connect it using the domain I own option. 

I am having a similar issue for my site: rossnwwatergardens.com. Everything is with SS, and I am using the SS default dns settings

The default settings did not load correctly. If you use www.rossnwwatergardens.com your site comes up but not without the www. That is because you also have the wrong A record. It is the first one and it has the address. 198.49.23.145 which is the under-construction parking page. That A record needs to be deleted. Let me know if you don't see that record in your DNS management.

Thanks for that info, but it doesn't appear that you can delete just one of the default records- it all is all or none. So I need to remove the presets and then manually add the ones I want? That doesn't seem right so maybe I am missing something?

Delete the defaults and reload them using the default button. Make sure that the .23 address does not reload. You don't have any txt or Mx records to worry about.

Deleted and then added multiple times, no change. (Fixed now, don't know why)

A change takes time to take effect.

1. Removing the site connection from

- Domains Settings / Website / Change Connection > Park this domain

2. Then removing the DNS entries

 - I removed all my DNS records (I backed them up before doing that)

3. Link the domain to the website again.

Once I did that, Squarespace automatically created 2 DNS records for me:
 1 A record & 1 CNAME record.

I refreshed my website and all seems to be fixed.

If this doesnt work you can try adding the Squarespace Defaults on the DNS page using the add preset button but in my experience I didnt have to do that.

My domain from transferred from GoDaddy yesterday the 12th September to Squarespace, today I published my site but when I visit it it shows as under construction too. Can anyone help, this is my first time ever making a website. My website is www.thesolemediaagency.co.uk 

please help in the settings it shows as public, I have managed to refresh once and it opened the website properly but once refreshed it went back to the under construction page. What do I need to do? 

On September 13, I discovered that my site was "under construction."

Analytics revealed that on September 11 early morning around 03:00 PDT, my site's traffic dropped to zero. 

I immediately checked the site's domain settings, and there were no connected domains 🤯 Squarespace had removed my domain connection. 

I reconnected the domain, but the site was still "under construction."

I created a support case with Squarespace, who asked me to manually delete them re-add DNS records - still "under construction."

I demanded Squarespace support resolve it, and after some time, they did, saying this is a known issue they're still trying to determine the cause of. Perhaps something they did on September 11 around 03:00 PDT. 😂

Still no outage listed on their status page, and still no explanation or apology. 

After more than a decade on Squarespace, and building Squarespace sites for numerous other businesses, I'm exploring alternatives. 

It has been more than four days my website is still saying 'We're under construction. Please check back for an update soon.' I put out a request for it to be looked into but to no avail. The site is www.sgpsychiatry.com.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Your solution is the same as posted above,  your domain has an A record with ip 198.49.23.145 which points to a parking page. You need to delete the DNS Squarespace defaults and reconnect.
