file names as captions?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi there ... excuse me if this has been asked/answered a billion times, but I can't seem to get the answer I need.

I am simply trying to show a client a rough culling of images so we can decide on which ones I will edit further. I need the file names to appear as captions below each image. WHY WHY WHY is this not a simple thing? What am I missing?

Any help, from anyone, anywhere, will be appreciated. This seemingly simple task is driving me crazy and has already taken too much time.

Thanks!

It will depend on the way you are displaying the images. Please share a working link to the page so that we can take a look. If you are unsure how to provide this, please see How to Post a Forum Question.

I'd like to set up a gallery where the image file names automatically appear as captions under images in a gallery.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or what the code would be?

If you are using a Gallery Block in Grid mode (as opposed to a Gallery Section or Gallery Page) then you should be able to use the solution I provided in this guide: How can I display filenames in a Squarespace Gallery Block?

If you're using a Gallery Section in the Simple Grid mode, I could write something similar for this too.

This is an interesting post. Thank you Paul. @paul2009

Gallery Blocks should still be showing Filenames when imported with the metadata on.

SInce that never got changed to the Title which should normally be displayed.
Is there any chance to fix that with a code? BUt it seems to be a issue solved in the backend i assume.
Any chance to get that to a developer? Haven t had a chance since 2 years.

Would be a huge update for photogaphers.

And i wrote you a DM to the favorites PlugIn.

Thank you!!
