Assistance Needed with URL Structure During Migration to 7.1

Recommended Posts

We are currently in the process of migrating our website from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1, and we have chosen the Klipsan template for our new design. During this migration, we have encountered an issue related to the URL structure of our product pages in the store section.

In Squarespace 7.0, our product URLs followed a specific format, as shown below:
https://www.ebylife.com/ebylife-products/skinny-guy-bulk-up-workout-plan-3-day-full-body

However, after migrating to 7.1, we've noticed an additional '/p/' segment has been introduced in the product URLs, which is not present in our original URL structure. For example, the URL now appears as:
https://silver-pigeon-6bj3.squarespace.com/ebylife-products/p/skinny-guy-bulk-up-workout-plan-3-day-full-body

Our goal is to maintain a consistent URL structure post-migration, without the need to implement 301 redirects, to ensure a seamless user experience and preserve our SEO rankings.

Could you please provide guidance or a solution on how to remove or bypass the '/p/' segment in the product URLs in Squarespace 7.1? Any insights or alternative suggestions you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

This is both normal and unavoidable. You will need to add a 301 redirect rule so that old product URLs continue to work:

/store/[product-item] -> /store/p/[product-item] 301

When you use the 7.0 to 7.1 update tool it automatically adds this 301 redirect rule.
