Customize the portfolio layout on the main page

Hi. I'm looking to figure out how to adjust/customize the layout of the portfiolio master page on my site: www.jaimeibrahim.com

Right now it is a grid, but I'd like to give it more space... similar to this quick mockup. I'd like to be able to add text blocks to the side of each image and either keep or customize the hover animation of each image block. 

Would love to know if this is possible with adding code.

Have you tried using Image Block - Text Block to achieve this yet? I think it will be easier.

But if you still want to use current portfolio, let me know, I will give CSS code to achieve your layout
