URL IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN MY DOMAIN NAME

Recommended Posts

I just spent an entire day navigating building a website (my first time ever) and when I published it, the URL shows as above, instead of sandifrith.com.

I did try the templates previously, however, decided today that I would spend the day building the site with all of SquareSpace templates and I even subscribed for the year.

I am so confused as to what I did wrong.  Help!  Is it because I started template before?  The second one in the screenshot is the one I built today and published.  The first one was not published.

Yes, it is a Squarespace hosted domain and sandifrith.com is set as the primary domain (the first picture above).  The 2nd one does not give me an option to set as a primary as reflects as a built in domain.

I'm not sure what I did wrong.

I am also having a nightmare with a random url that has nothing to do with my set domain name...

I bought my domain www.ginlee787.com from squarespace and  paid for a subscription to squarespace . I built the site, everything looked right on the dashboard, my paid for domain name was the only one that appeared and it was the only one linked to the site. Friends tested it on all different platforms and browsers, it worked fine.

Then I requested Google indexing using Squarespace inbuilt tools, and waited. A few weeks later, my site comes up in Google with the wrong site title and a totally different url. When I type www.ginlee787.com I get my site, but again,  with the wrong url. My friends get the same thing.

On my dashboard everything looks right, except when I click on website,  it reverts to this random url and doesn't load.

I have emailed squarespace but I know they will take a while to reply and I am desperate- I have publisher inquiries active and need the site and domain name I paid so much money for to work.

What is going on? Is squarespace just not a legitimate provider or what?
