NikkiT
I've created a website for my artwork and am facing an issue. Firstly, I am completely untrained in website-building ... so here goes. According to a variety of articles I've read, it's really important to have enough text on one's web pages for Google and other search engines to crawl and read. I understand that completely. I really don't get much traffic on my website and would like to get more but, again, I'm not very ... knowledgeable in such things. Looking at other "artist" websites, they are really minimal... the images speak for themselves. I'd really like to go in that direction but if I do so Google won't "see" me at all. Therefore I am in a quandary of how to have text on my webpages but still be minimal. So I did some more searching and have found that some websites employ "hidden text" meaning that text is inserted with transparent font or in a minuscule size. When I tried to do this with the Squarespace tools... well, it was a miserable failure. I'd like to have some suggestions from the forum, if possible, because, as I've said before, I don't have much knowledge about building websites.... Thanking everyone in advance!!! Link to comment
kalevi
If you want to add "invisible" SEO (Search Engine Optimization) text to the page, there is a special place for that. Settings > Marketing > SEO Appearance (Ensure your site is optimized for search engines and visitors) > SEO Site Description - here you can add text up to 400 characters. It will not be visible on the pages, but it will be visible in the search results. In addition, you can also add a unique SEO text to each page. Link to comment
NikkiT
Thanks so much!! I have this already set up and it seems as well that the description I insert is shown to people when Google displays my web page in a search. When I run an audit on my website, it informs me that my landing page doesn't have enough text on it, especially in the Headings. I don't prefer to have a lot of text on my website so... I am wondering if I can insert "hidden" text in squarespace sites. I do understand that some people might consider this to be "deceptive".... Link to comment
