Italic font looking way too skewed

Hi there! 

I uploaded this beautiful type weight to my client's site. I added this CSS code to make sure the italics are looking sharp with it:

       em {
           font-family: 'NantesItalic' !important;
       }

Full bliss when selecting the type and marking it as italics on the text box directly and boom type was showing perfectly on desktop Chrome. Now, for some reason, the italics are now looking extra skewed on mobile, both on Safari (desktop & mobile)& Chrome (mobile).

Type is Nantes Italic, fyi.

Does anyone know how can this be solved?
