Create a filter on Gallery (version 7.1)

Hi, I am creating a website where I have been using gallery blocks to showcase a number of products which people can then click through to view the link. 

I need to add a filter to these pages, however I can't see how this can be done? I also am unable to. see if I were to use the Universal Filter plug in, would this work as I can't tag the images?

You can use the Universal Filter plugin for a gallery, but the tags need to be written with a little code into the image descriptions. This does make the management of the tags more difficult, but it can be done.

The Universal Filter plugin has guides on how to do this but as a teaser, you would use a code snippet a bit like this to add the tags:
