Changing the Navigation and Header font using Custom CSS > Bedford Theme

I tried to change the header-font using

.desc-wrapper { font-family:'fontname';  }

#mainNavigation a { font-family: 'fontname';  }

i was able to change all other bodyfonts and h1, h2, h3 but not the navigation fontsand header fonts.

help would be appreciated :)
