Can you add an extra drop down with the Universal Filter plugin?

Hello,

Is it possible to add another separate 'drop down' using the Universal Filter plugin? Like having a category of 'brand' on its own drop down (like how Category is a drop down) instead of nested under Category? My guess is no, since it is just pulling in from the categories on the back end. But if anyone knows of a work around I would appreciate the help. Thanks!
