No Paragraph Align Option on Text Box, Random spaces that make no sense

I purchased a template from a designer and am trying to update it. There is a text box/block on the home page where I want to put what services I offer. There is no text align button and it is auto aligning it center. There are also random spaces. Has the designer put some kind of code in that takes away the option for me to align it differently? Do you know how I can use align? 

It's entirely possible that there's code on the template you purchased. 95% of template shops use custom code in some way. Have you tried reaching out to the designer for help? Is there a Read Me or Instructions page they included with the template?

If those fail, I could take a look at the custom code in the back-end and see if I can help you fix it. The random spaces are likely custom code, but I wouldn't know without logging in.
