Better Navigation Menus on Mobile

Does anyone know of any plugins, code, etc. to make a more modern navigation menu? I switched from another website platform that let me add short bodies of text, images, adjust any color and style I saw best fit, as well as layout. Squarespace 7.1 is awesome with the exception of navigation menus, but I feel like that's a huge part of user experience.

Any tips? I'd be willing to pay for a plugin.
