import/export to reconfigure site?

We want to go through the setup wizard again and start with a different base layout without all the hassle of disconnecting Google Workspace, doing the refund for the annual payment, etc. because we just want to work on the site, not do a lot of messing about with unrelated busywork.

Is it possible to do the following:

1. Start a new trial site, and revisit the setup wizard to choose a layout
2. Delete everything from the old site.
3. Export the trial site.
4. Import the trial site into the old site.

This would save a heap of extra work for us if it's possible.

If you are referring to SS's export feature it is designed for content, not the style of a site.

The only way I know to map settings from a new template to an old one is tediously copying settings from one to another.

AFAIK, your Workspace account is attached to your SQSP account, not your website, so even if you switch to a new site, the Workspace account should move with it. I could be wrong though, it's been a while since I moved one of these.

You'd think so, right? Sadly, it doesn't 😢.

And to make matters worse, Squarespace's manual process (for moving Workspace accounts from one website to another after you build a replacement site) is currently broken. It has been for more than a year. This means that clients end up with Workspace accounts orphaned on expired website plans.
