Is there a propagation time before you see site live?

Quick question, is there a 24-hour propagation timeframe from creating a site on Squarespace before its live for the first time?

I bought a domain name on Squarespace a few weeks ago

I created a website on Squarespace today

I still see a coming soon / SSpace parked page

Is there a process to follow tp connect my website to the bought domain, even if its all on Squarespace?

Have you added your domain to your website?

When viewing your website from the dashboard, go to Settings -> Domains/Email -> Domains, do you see you domain name listed there?

No. I only see two boxes named Domains and Google Workspace.

 

When I click on Domains,  I can see my Squarespace template website I am working on right now, but not the domain i have registered with Squarespace already

Go to account.squarespace.com and log in, then go to domain panel and click on your domain name, then connect it to your website. 

That sounds fantastic and very simple, however, I've logged in 7 ways to Christmas and trying to see a view that makes it sound that easy.  :) 

I do not see anything that suggests connecting to my website. 

I do see a Use a Domain I Own, then I type in the name, and it takes me to a couple of greyed-out links - stet that I just tried this option now and after typing the domain I now get This domain is already registered on this site. Did you mean to move it to a different Squarespace site? - which is progress I think.

Can you think of any FAQ page that talks to exactly what you want me to try, I've been on this all day trying to find something. I see there are a million answers to connecting an externally bought domain to the website, but nothing to connect a SQSP domain to a SQSP website.

Yep, you'd think it would be this easy, it should be, but it's not I'm afraid. I think I'll just have to try and break things now and hope I fluke a win! Thanks for trying though, will post back on here if I figure it out.

Ok i did something different this time, I can't even remember what it was, but i was asked to move the domain and followed instructions and clicked save and it worked. I'm not touching anything now. But I'll to retrace the steps once I get over the shock of having achieved what feel slike a climb to the top of Everest, I'll document here. :)

If you start the website and then purchase a domain via that website it will start out as linked to that website. I know that's not always how these things work, but it might be helpful.
