Home page; fluid engine; image sizing

Hello, homepage has *unintentionally* changed to fluid engine. (I only looked at the "i" in the top left grey box to read it; but... phut! changed, and I've seen in forum searches that FE can't be changed back to Classic editor).

So, have duplicated site to try to resolve

duplicate site  on http://penguin-lime-z7fl.squarespace.com *p/w rivertamar

and on dupe homepage: add new section, add blank section, add text block, add image block and add image from library. The new section is below the original-now-FE section, with pale blue background.

But struggling with layout and sizing of image to replicate the original design and layout. I can't change the image proportionately with a corner grab thing to match the original layout. Original image is almost a square but not quite. It gets cropped (problem in FE too).

And with positioning both text box and image box into  the same page proportions as original (wide screen/ laptop).

1  Please can someone advise if firstly the plan to create a new section and replace the FE section with it would work to make the homepage FE-free?

2  How please to work the images and text and edit the new block when the edit options seem limited compared to other non-FE pages/sections?

Other niggles also occurred like "caption on hover" text showing but I possibly have found workarounds for these.

Website was set up a few years ago with limited time and it is now my plan to re-design and flesh it out, but want to resolve this homepage bit first.

many thanks in advance to anyone for assistance.

OK, resolved my issue with a little time, less panic, and more common sense.

New to Fluid Engine, which seems good for people with standard format images (eg smartphone), but not for people with varying sized/formatted images like me.

Resolved my problem worked not by trying to introduce a classic editor section into a FluiD Engine converted one, but by duplicating a non-converted FE page and then re-styling it in classic editor to match the original home page. Then switching that to become new home page and scrapping the original.

phew!

But I really don't like where that FE convert button sits on the screen, waiting for you to tap it by accident, and so am about to duplicate (and hide) every page on my site to prevent the same "accident" happening again.

Thanks to all for asking and answering various questions here in the past, it helps to be able to read through them.
