Tayte
Hello! I’ve been struggling to connect my domain from GoDaddy to Squarespace. I’ve tried using the squarespace name-servers and that didnt work so I then tried manually connecting through DNS Settings. The records in the troubleshoot support page all connected but I have to other records that confuse me. I’ve tried adding those records but it doesn’t work. What do I do here? Ziggy
Connecting a Godaddy domain is normally straightforward and typically doesn't need manual DNS editing. How long has it been since you added the records? It can take up to 72 hours to have changes fully propagate. You can always ask Squarespace Support for help with this. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/requests/new#choose-topic Please like and upvote if my comments were helpful to you. Cheers! (thank you) The two A records pointing to 3.33.130.190 and 15.197.148.33 in their screenshot were conflicting with Squarespace's DNS records, and needed to be removed. What domain are you having trouble connecting? Link to comment
wilderbydesign
I'm trying to connect this site : https://dolphin-parsnip-f4ma.squarespace.com/ To MosaicCamden.com (which is GoDaddy Site). The domain was connected to an older Squarespace site (which I disconnected) and initially when I started the process with the new site -- it looked like it was going well ( some green DNS and some red) but now the 72 hours is almost up and my client's site has been down for almost 3 days (and is a restaurant). I also now can't get a hold of Squarespace -- their chat system seems broken? -- but I guess I'm going to go into GoDaddy, delete the Squarespace nameservers and try connecting again manually. It's just really messed up that Squarespace tells you to wait 3 days -- having a site be down for this long is really bad. Link to comment
PhoenixRising
Did you ever resolve this issue. I'm having the same issue. I tried the Nameserver it did not work. Now I'm trying the manual DNS connect. It's still not connecting. This is awful!!!!! I've spent days of my life waiting for this connection. There is no clear support on how to resolve this issue. The changing the nameserver in GoDaddy to Squarespace nameservers does not work at all!!! At the 72 hour mark I received an error message that I could not connect. I'm seeing similar situations on Reddit with no real solution. I hope you were able to fix it and share your secret. Thanks! Link to comment
PixelSoda
I think something odd might be going on with GoDaddy domains, where some of them are defaulting to DNS Connect after selecting Nameserver Connect. Then if you try to re-link the domain using DNS Connect, GoDaddy's automatic connection won't work if the nameservers are set to Squarespace. To resolve this, first figure out how your domain is linked to your site (DNS Connect or Nameserver Connect). Check out this post if you're not sure how to tell: If the domain is linked using DNS Connect Make sure the domain is using GoDaddy's default nameservers and then follow the steps in Squarespace's guide to manually connect the domain. This will require editing the domain's DNS records in GoDaddy. Change your domain's nameservers: GoDaddy guide: Edit my domain nameservers Manually connect your domain: Manually connecting a GoDaddy domain to your Squarespace site - Step 2: Log into GoDaddy* *You can start from step 2 since your domain is already linked to Squarespace. To find the DNS records that you'll need to add, open your site and go to the Settings > Domains & Email > Domains panel, click on your domain, then click View DNS Settings. If the domain is linked using Nameserver Connect Your domain should be using Squarespace nameservers and you can edit the DNS records directly through Squarespace. Make sure that Squarespace's default DNS records are included in the domain's DNS settings. Accessing your Squarespace-managed domain's DNS settings - Add Squarespace defaults When you make changes to your domain's DNS settings, it can take up to 72 hours to update, which isn't a Squarespace-specific timeframe. This is why Squarespace tells you to wait a few days, but you can always reach out to support and ask them to check if the domain is connected correctly. (Don't just say the site isn't loading, or they might assume it's related to changes that haven't fully updated). This way, even though you might still need to wait for the DNS Settings to update, you'll at least know that you're not waiting just to find out that the domain connection wasn't set up properly in the first place. This can also help them identify platform-related issues that might not be super obvious - like if you chose Nameserver Connect but the domain ended up using DNS Connect, instead. Hope this helps!
