New to website building!

Hi all,

I'd love some feedback on my website. The traffic to my site is very low and my bounce rate sits around 44%. Although I've had over 1K page views I've only sold 10 courses so I could definitely use some feedback and advice.

Please help!

I would be so appreciative and am open to any advice recommended.

Hi

Constructively I would say
1. there's too much text

2. It's too dark which makes it feel imposing to me.

3. The footer looks disorganised.

4. I am no expert but I've been developing my own website for a good while and I would say that even I'm not 100% happy with where I am and that it's very definitely a process or other people might call a 'Living Document" so always being tweaked.

Anyway, thats my two cents!!! Best of luck with it!

Hi!

Reaching out for honest feedback is admirable!

And Bobby is right, a persons website is a living, working document that will always take on new shape and format through different seasons. Yours is in a good phase and perhaps is ready for its next phase.

Over all, I agree with the Bobby's comments and wanted to fill in with extra context to help you get in with some edits.

1 ) Having black as a background color immediately changed the tone from professional business to something more like a forum/chat area. If you want to stick with black as a main theme you can run with something similar to Squarespace's site. You'll notice they have their header and footer both in all black, but the rest of the site is white and very approachable. Otherwise, I would advise to keep black as an accent color or for certain blocks.

2) Footer is slightly askew. Either organize evening in multiple columns or stick with a single column and slightly smaller font.

3) Copy percentages on a page is tricky. For an "About" page more copy can be fine, but for a homepage you want your graphics to support and balance the amount of actual words on the page. I am a professional copywriter as part of my website builds and would be happy to help if you wanted to schedule something. There are some easy fixes we can do, like accordion sections, that could cut the amount of immediate copy on the page and loosen up the feel.

Wow what a difference already. I'd invite you to check out my changes based on both of your feedback @AnimoInnovations and @Bobby_Harpur.

You don't know what you don't know until someone points it out! lol

I knew the black background and the font weren't where they needed to be so thanks for pointing that out and the footer was indeed a mess. I'm not saying that I'm necessarily where I'm supposed to be but you definitely both leave me in a better position. I do agree that websites should always be evergreen. Always opportunity for growth.

Again...grateful 🙂

Hi zeta1998!

Honestly, your site looks great! Really well balanced and I like the feel. Not too much copy considering your industry.

The only thing I would suggest is balancing out the footer. Totally fine to have everything L aligned, but the content is pretty condensed. Visually speaking, words need space to breath just like a graphic or image would, so try to put a little more space between the content in the footer.

Great site tho!

my best,

Aaron

Great!

I agree; looks much better. Nice work.

I would also suggest adding your logo to your Favicon.  (Settings > Favicon) This is a small touch that elevates a site and further personalizes it. It is the icon that displays on the Tab.

Take care
