nancy001
Hello, I have a trial site on Squarespace where I've made content and design changes. I also have an active Squarespace domain. I'd like to make the trial site my website. Am I supposed to transfer or connect it? I'm a little bit confused. Link to comment

Am I supposed to transfer or connect [the domain]? If you are trying to connect a new Squarespace domain to a Squarespace website, please see my guide Connecting a Squarespace Domain to a Squarespace Website as it will walk you through the steps. If you are still in a website trial, please note that you won't be able to connect a domain until the website is on an active billing plan. Did this help? nancy001
Hello and thank you for your response. I'm still a little bit blocked in the process. 1. Squarespace Domain (it has a paid subscription and built-in domain that says it never expires. My domain currently has a "coming soon" landing page). 2. Trial site (not published and not part of a paid subscription. This trial site has what I want my website to be). It's unclear how to "disconnect" the domain from the current site. Does this mean I'll need to pay to publish my trial site and then connect it to my domain? I'm trying to follow the instructions from this page "Moving a domain to another Squarespace site." Ritter
Hello Nancy, I’m currently in the same space. I’ve purchased a domain and had an old site. I’ve created a new site and I’m attempting to transfer this domain over. I’m the owner of both. When I click move site, it doesn’t populate the new temp site for transfer. Can anyone help? brandijroberts
I am in the same boat. i have a template i have been working on - and i want to 'merge' it with my domain (squarespace hosted). i am assuming i need to purchase a paid plan for the template - then i will be able to use my domain once i either transfer or connect my domain? I get the same message as original poster. Link to comment
Lulu1994
This is the article that helped me: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812098#toc-move-a-squarespace-domain Instructions below: Step 1 - Find your domain in the Domains panel Open the Domains panel. Click the domain you’d like to move. Step 2 - Click Move Domain In the pop-up window, click the featured image of the site where the domain will move. When you're automatically logged into the new site, click Save to complete the process. Link to comment
kirshy
I'm having the exact same issue. The instructions provided by Squarespace are not helpful. There is no pop-up window when i try to follow the steps. The only youtube video they have seems to show a different interface as well. How the hell do you do this? Link to comment

Then, in the pop-up window that appears, click the featured image of the site where you want to use the domain. When you have automatically been logged into the site, click Save to complete the process. If the domain is already connected to another Squarespace website you may need to disconnect it from the current site before you can connect it to another. When your trial site is in an active billing plan, you can then choose 'Connect' to move the domain to this new Squarespace site. Did this help? What if you have a yourname.squarespace.com url and you just bought a new custom one and want to transfer your old site to this new one? What are the steps then? There are literally no instructions on how to do this. Link to comment
RevSilkk
I'm in the same boat. Created a website, spent days working on it, but when I tried to connect it with the domain I purchased through Squarespace, it won't connect. The directions on the FAQ page are not helping and trying to wait to chat with a specialist has taken hours. Does anyone have insight on how to do this? Link to comment
dan2444
I believe I had the same issue. Providing a link to the thread where I basically talked to myself and figured it out. https://forum.squarespace.com/topic/262905-want-to-connect-website-i-made-to-domain-i-own-all-squarespace Link to comment
PrajnaCole
I argued with my site and read forum posts for too long this morning before I succumbed to following Paul2009's tidbit about paying for the subscription on my trial site...lo and behold all the other transfer problems disappeared. So if you're struggling to find your trial site to transfer your domain to, pay for your trial site subscription before trying to transfer. paul2009 1 Link to comment
