Audio file not loading

I've been trying to upload an audio file into an audio block for days and it keeps timing out/just not finishing. I'm doing the same thing I've always done as part of a podcast, mp3, file size is 93.9MB - create the audio block, click on add file, select file. 

I've  written to squarespace help who suggested clearing cache, which I've done, i've tried using a different browser ( I was using safari, tried downloading new firefox and using that) I've cleared caches, I've deleted the blog post and started again. I've deleted the MP3 and re-downloaded the file which works perfectly everywhere else. 

I'm aware I can load a file that's an external file that's not a work around becuase this should work as it usually does. Any ideas? Anyone else having problems with audio blocks? see screenshot of where I get to every time 

1000% having the same issue. I've done all the same things that you have and still it loads all the way but won't continue to the next step to process the file. This is super frustrating

Add me to the list of people struggling with this--and only just recently. I haven't gotten my audio uploads to complete for several weeks now. Help?

I am experiencing the same issue for one of my sites. This is what I got from Squarespace support on 5/6/2024:

"After some investigating, I can see this is related to a known bug we are dealing with. We’ve noted your report with our Engineering and Design teams for review. They’ll use this feedback when creating fixes and improvements for future releases. There are many variables that we need to test against before we can make changes, and we can’t guarantee changes for this issue in the immediate future."

UGH. It's July 3, 2024 and I am running into this issue.

I think it might have to do with meta data. I ran into this problem twice when I tried to replace a track (delete old track, upload a new one). I succeeded though when creating a new block ("untiteled"), loaded the audio in there, deleted the old audio (button, in my case), then re-positioned the new button.

Having the same issue. Stuck at the "processing and identifying" part of the audio block, and it's just not going anywhere. Was hoping to upload the podcast episode BEFORE the actual Holiday. Losing faith... 

Same issue, been trying to upload for about 20 hours now.  Tried it from two different PC's with windows 10 and 11, on different wifi networks, different files just to see if anything could get uploaded.  given all the variations at my end I'm confident the issue isn't me...

I spoke with Squarespace via live chat then email, they told me that it is a known issue and they are working on it to fix it. They mentioned you can still do embed audio, but that defeats the purpose for my site.  Hopefully they will fix it shortly. It is good to know that it wasn't something exclusive to an individual and that they are working on it I suppose. 

Hi there, also here trying to upload downloadable audios for an online course. Just stuck at "Processing and identifying". Have square space given any idea of times? it seems like this has been ongoing for a while? Are there any other options for making audio downloadable on the sqaure space wesbite? 

Right now I think it's hit or miss.  Yesterday I couldn't upload my mp3's all day.  Tired again this morning with my file for today and the same thing, however, just a few minutes ago I was able to upload that file yet not the one from yesterday.  Both are small files at 5MB and 1MB.  And that was with all three of my browsers which are up to date; Chrome, Safari and Firefox .  I use Chrome specifically for the site I manage yet when Squarespace is hanging on it I'll use Firefox.  As I'm typing this yesterday 's file is still trying process and that is the 1MB file so something is going on.

Routine success 2024 May-June with MP3 uploads for site & podcast, 30-70mb quickly processed. But since July 3rd it's been stuck, uploads don't complete. Deleted post, cleared cache, tried multiple browsers, each time would use a differently named MP3 for a "fresh" upload, no luck. Just keeps spinning. Although one time, it did give "PROCESSING FAILED" message.

I guess it is helpful that others are having the loading problem, but that doesn't mean anything is improving. This is a disaster....Yes, I can load podcasts through my distribution on Spreaker, but half of my audience accesses podcasts on my website. Thoughts????

I am getting stuck at the "processing and identifying". I did do a test with a tiny file...a :30 commericial which worked...thoughts???

Also, I understand it is a holiday, but how prompt is the online help??? I am getting no response..

I'm having the same troubles, and I've been a member of Squarespace for years without this ever happening before.  Everything is hanging at "Processing and Identifying".  Tried renaming the file, different bitrates, no go.  I'm sitting here with a July 4th themed episode that I poured a lot of work into and I want to get it online today.  Really frustrating.

Yes Broken_Radio...extremely frustrating. What is even more frustrating in these cases is not being able to speak to a human being. I anyone has any suggestions or updates, that would be great. Thanks!

July 4 at 12am, the chat customer service was down due to volume of requests, banner at site suggested email form which I sent around 12:40am, but as of now, no reply.

Chat opened up in the mid-morning, I began a thread, typed issues and uploaded supporting imagery, but no response there either.

Based on some attempts/suggestions from other people, at 10:16AM EST I tried to upload a small 918kb audio MP3 (trailer), same format/bitrate as others I've uploaded since May but a fraction of the size. Ordinarily it's an immediate process to get such a small file up and processed. After 4 minutes, "processing wheel" still spinning.

I noted that my subscription renewal is up on July 17th and that the enthusiasm to renew isn't high with this issue AND the lack of response on the help chat. Freakin' ridiculous...

Updates from anyone are appreciated...Thanks!

Surprised to see no acknowledgement of this issue since July 3.

• Squarespace Status shows no signs of downtime, no ETA for repairs.

Granted, it's a US holiday but businesses around the world (not on holiday) rely on these tools. Hope to see a resolution soon, or at least acknowledgement of their efforts.

Since Live Assistant/Chat did not provide appropriate nor timely feedback, I moved to X/twitter and communicated with SquarespaceHelp who looked into my open ticket about this matter.

In a few minutes, they emailed me back, here's the reply, in a nutshell…

• “…can confirm that we have had reports from some customers experiencing an issue with uploading files to audio blocks.
• Engineering team are currently investigating the issue
  • …many variables that we need to test against before we can make changes
  • …can’t guarantee changes for this issue in the immediate future.
• For now, we recommend uploading your file to a third-party file hosting service, then linking to it in the audio block as an external file.
  • [they sent me a support link with instructions]
  • To be clear, this is a temporary workaround, rather than a permanent fix for the issue.”

Since this seems to be a work in progress, I'm going to step away from the sunny window of the computer screen, and go outside to play.

Hopefully this gets resolved in a few hours, or days.

Does anyone know which services you can use that will provide a link that the audio block will support? It's not Dropbox and it's not OneDrive, so I'm not sure where I'm supposed to go to upload my file for this workaround.

Soundcloud has been referenced by others within "help/support" circles, and it's also referenced here…

• SoundCloud blocks won't work for podcasts.
• Use audio blocks instead.

Yea, this is a podcast. I need something for that purpose. Any suggestions ?
