I can’t have Afterpay at checkout on Digital Products/Downloads.
Please tell me why and if there is any workaround for this.

@Chantelle-Blossom There are no workarounds for this.

Afterpay can only be used on orders where a shipping address has been provided. This means it is only available for physical products being shipped.

It is not available for orders:

  • containing digital download products
  • containing service products
  • using local pickup
  • containing subscription products

The same applies to Clearpay in the UK. Personally, I don't think that anyone in the industry draws enough attention to limitations like this or their charges.

I appreciate this is not what you wanted to hear, but I hope this saves you time looking for a solution that doesn't exist.

It's kind of ridiculous that you can't have pay installments as a pay option in this day & age. It's equally ridiculous that Squarespace doesn't have any workarounds or other payment options to make this possible. I am an independent musician/music producer and I use Squarespace as a platform to sell instrumentals to vocal artists (in addition to being a one-stop shop for my own music/merch). I believe having an online store that would allow me to have pay installments for the beats I'm selling would boost my sales & site interactions tremendously. Please find a way to fix this.

This SUCKS! I just spent hours and hours building my site and I can offer after pay with my stripe account, but this just makes me want to switch away from squarespace, because it feels to cumbersome and antiquated to make it easy for customers to buy my services.
