keep autoplaying background videos going when playing a featured video?

Hi. I have a very multimedia rich site and embed lots of video clips as auto playing looping elements on the page. Most are short vimeo links that auto play/loop silently. I do need to have full videos play with sound when someone clicks to play them. The problem I have is this action causes all other embedded videos to stop playing and I need to refresh the page to have them start again. Does anyone know how I can solve this?

this project is a good example of what I am trying to do. There are little looping elements through out, but if you click on the embedded full video, they will stop playing.
