Align text next to image

Hi,

I'm relatively novice in Squarespace.  I have my homepage how I want it to look, but it comes up inconsistently.  I have a stack of images.  To the left I have Headings that will link to the page sections when they are done.  I'd like the Headings to the left of the image to stay vertically center aligned with the image.  Currently I'v achieved this by having spacers above and below the Heading text, but that sometimes flows oddly down the page.

(I looked at doing a vertical gallery, but I like the hovering and Lightbox captions that I can't seem to get in a gallery.  Also, you can't style the Heading text if it's with a gallery caption.)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Instead of using an inline image style, try setting the image block to "Card" which places text next to the image. In the site styles you can adjust the positioning of the text and image width, have a look at this basic guide:

I did see that, but when I do that, the text can't be formatted?  The text next to the image currently is set to Heading 1 and I quite like it.   Is there a way to make it look like it currently does?

You can certainly edit the font size in the site style settings for the image blocks.

Apologies if this is all basic level stuff.  When I make the image as a Card. the text has a white background rather than the black of the site.  I also cannot see where to turn on the Lightbox feature or where to enter a caption (I'm guessing that's supposed to go in the text box).

I'm also not seeing anything about style settings for image blocks in the site styles.

Thanks for your time and patience.

You should have far more styling options than you can see there. When in the site styles menu can you click on the page, specifically on the image block? That usually helps bring up the correct style options. If that doesn't work, you may want to speak to Squarespace Support as you may have a problem that I can't fix!

Thanks!  That was it, and something I would never have put together on my own.  So now I can make it look how I want; is there a way to make it open in Lightbox and have a caption there?

If it's not able to do that, what's the trick to making the picture be a link to the page?  It seems straightforward, but it's not working.  I have it set as pictured, but clicking on the image doesn't do anything.

You can't have a link and lightbox on the same image since they both require a click to work, it's one of the other. You can potentially add the link to the text instead.
