Changing a Gallery Slideshow transition from default fade to slide

This is a super basic question but can't seem to find an answer for it. I have a Gallery on my homepage and it's currenlty set to Slideshow Design and I'm happy with it apart from the fade. I would like a smooth slide between each image rather than a fade. Is this possible to achieve with some basic code?
