Cannot add blocks or content to any section on any page of the site

Please help. I have a blank section, and there is no +, no add block, no edit, nothing shows up, regardless of which page or what section of the site, if I use "add blank section" it adds a blank section and then gives me no options to change or edit anything whatsoever, effectively making it impossible to actually build anything. Is this a bug? I really REALLY hate the buttons all being context sensitive, I guess they were trying to declutter the UI but all it does is make it impossible to actually do anything. I've spent a week trying to figure out the editor and at this point I'm convinced I'd be better off just making a site completely from scratch.

I have the exact same issue with my course page. My screenshot looks identical. I am able to add a section but once the section is added the entire section is white and blank. Moving the cursor over any portion of the section does not cause any add block or edit section tab to appear. I can't even delete the section after it has been added. With past buggy issues, unplugging and restarting the router as well as deleting my cache/ history, logging out of squarespace and logging back in with incognito mode on my browser helped. But I've tried all of these and none of them has worked with this issue. I just have to delete the whole lesson entirely and start over. At least it works whenever I start a new lesson. Just hoping its not a recurring issue with other lessons/pages.
