I need to make a custom Blank Collection

Ok, I am setting up my site as an author. I am setting up a pay site for my content. I want to use a collection on the pay site to organize the volumes and chapters of a writing project. None of the collections have a working layout for what I want to do, without a complete redesign. I want to just have a blank collection where if I create a subpage nothing shows up on the main collection page, I want to add items myself, and have complete creative control. My understanding is that there is no way to just remove the automatically created content on a collection page.

If I make a collection, is it possible to make the main page inaccessible?

Can I remove the next lesson button from a lesson page in a course collection?

Honestly, the lack of subpage support for regular pages and lack of support for folders in members sections leaves me frustrated.

I don't want to make a million regular pages as it will fill the navigation for users and make navigation for me frustrating as well.

Any help would be appreciated.
